Re: Harbor Freight trailer anyone use them?

I bought one last year specifically to carry my two Commander 120's. Hate to put salty boats on my vehicles. Added an extended tongue so I can also carry my Tarpon 160 without haveing to worry about clearance when turning. Has worked very well. Used PT 1X6 for the bed and stake sides.

Re: Scupper Drain for Commander 120

Thanks Rik, that was my thoughts but sometimes there is someone out there who does it first and I would rather learn from them than as you say put a big hole in the bottom first. As to your other question, I'm not sure that you could fill it to the brim unless you had a huge wave break over it. I ha...

Scupper Drain for Commander 120

Has anyone ever looked at mounting a Sunfish sailboat scupper in the stern of a Commander 120. It is a captive ball style but would think it would work for getting water out after a wake or wave comes over the bow. Any thoughts on this idea?

Re: Do you Stand in your Kayak while fishing ?

Unless I am moving to or from a fishing area, I stand. Commander 120 is very stable and I made an 8' paddle out of western red cedar and can either paddle or pole, I stow it like a pole on the opposite side from my anchor trolly. I only fly fish and standing makes for a much better presentation whet...

Re: "Buff" paddling gloves.

Bought them a couple of months ago and wear them all the time. Very comfortable and work well when flyfishing.

Pop Stansell Foolishness

Has anyone launched at Pop Stansell Park lately? Launched there twice in the past week to fish the flats outside the inlet. Both times I watched boaters with big ass boats launch there and actually back the tow vehicle to where the entire back of the vehicle is in the salt water. I heard one of the ...

Need a cast net patched!

I have a mullet net that needs some patching and my old standby Castnet King is no longer in Clearwater. Anyone know who does a good job?

Garmin Bluecharts

For those of you who are using the Garmin handhelds with Bluecharts, which charts are you using? I am confused since there seems to be one set of charts that cover the Americas and then charts that are much more specific. I would like to have detailed charts for the state but will be paddling off th...

Re: Seminole Coyote

I live behind Clearwater High School and they are here. Also in the woods east of Keene across from Eagle Lake Park. Lost my cat to one. You can't get rid of them and but they sure are less of a nuisance than lets say a bear. Its a wild and dangerous world out there!

Re: Deep Water Re-Entry

Has anyone ever tried the scupper that Sunfish sailors use on there little boat. It has a captive ball that seals the drain hole when sitting still but siphons when the boat is in motion.

Re: Leader question

I make my own furled leaders after watching a how-to on YouTube. Start with 20lb flouro about 25' worth. When finished you have a butt section with four strands, and then a section with 2 strands. Both ends will have loops. Attach your tippet on the two strand end and you have a leader which will tu...

Re: Trout have turned on

Gils, that mullet spread sounds great. Let me tell you there were some huge mullet in huge schools out there. If you were hit by one of them flying mullet you would have to be flown to Bayfront.

Trout have turned on

Fished the Clam Bar this morning with the Suncoast Fly Fishers. Launched off the Skyway approach and paddled to the Clam Bar, which was high and dry with the full moon low tide. Fished both sides where the water drops off to 5 or 6 feet. Two small trout and the ever present Lizard Fish. Huge Mullet ...
