I just got a call from a co-worker who is down at the Port of Tampa. He said he was looking at about 60-100 snook that all appeared to be alive and well. He also said that there were quite a few big ones (he said 30lbs) in the mix. I know we lost an enormous mount of fish over the last several days,...

Most of the State Parks have some sort of body of water that you can kayak/fish on. I have been to the Hillsborough River, the Alafia River and the Myakka River state parks and have enjoyed them all. http://www.floridastateparks.org/ You can also order a free copy of the SWFWMD recreation guide here...

I have the Harpoon frames w/ 580 Amber lenses and I love them. I think that several others on this site have mentioned that they liked the amber lenses for inshore fishing as well. They do a good job of eliminating glare and help you to see through the water. You could probably do a search on this s...

I was out there on Sat. morning and, like TCS said, it was VERY shallow. I have used the canoe/kayak launch before, but it can be difficult if the tide is out. On Saturday I parked at the south end of the parking lot and just carried my kayak to the beach. It is MUCH closer than hauling it all the w...

Here you go: http://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/d3000.htm The title pretty much sums it up. If I were looking to buy an inexpensive DSLR right now I would probably buy THIS (please note this is the D40, not the D40X) Last week Adorama had some refurbished D40s with the 18-55 lens for $375... that was ...

That really is a nice area to paddle if you put in at the park on Riverhills and go north (against the current). When you get past the park and around the bend, it is completely undeveloped and natural. A great place for paddling around and checking out the local wildlife (quite a few gators out the...

Take US-19 about 3 miles north of Homosassa Springs to Ozello Trail. Turn left (west) onto Ozello Trail and take it to the end, it ends at Sanddollar lane. Take a right and go about 100 yards, the kayak launch will be on your left. If you can figure out which direction you are facing at this point.....

The trick to snapper fishing is never have any slack in the line and have a quick tip rod to set the hook, those bastards are quick. Bingo. I do agree that smaller whitebait work very well. I just find it easier to stop by the bait shop on the way to the bridge. I have found that if you use small s...
