Re: Tarpon 120 too

On the floor in front of the seat there's a cord, unhook it from the center hook and take the two plastic hook ends from the seat back bungie cord, pull over top of the folded down seat back and hook them both to the bungie on the floor. Should do it. Thanks, that sounds like it will work! I'll try...

Re: Tarpon 120 too

............ The milk crate in the back is hard to beat for quick access. I keep few things in the craft's stowage when not on the water, but those aren't water susceptible. ........ Knowing the cart fits in will probably be the kicker to me picking one up. Carrying the kayak is fine, but handling ...

I took my modified stake out yesterday and it worked great... the one I had was only about 5 feet long and the tip got cracked tryig to get pluff mud out of it so I used a smaller peice of PVC and shoved it into the end, dropped a couple of scres in to it to keep the crack form getting bigger and u...

Probably a dumb question but wouldn't a floating stake-out pole make it more difficult to keep underwater in the mud? Besides, if you keep it tethered why even bother? Not a dumb question. A little bit of buoyancy wouldn't keep the pole from staying stuck in the bottom. However, a little bit of buo...

"..... any ideas on how to seal up the end to keep the stinky out of it??? ..." I inserted a broom handle in the PVC and used some Gorilla glue. Then I cut the end at about a 45° angle. So mud will not get packed into mine. On the other hand, my state out pole now weighs quite a bit, and I...

No, but my reply might!

"Thanks for all the details and pictures, after all, I'm retired Army!
Now if someone can covert this whole thing to a comic book, we'll have a manual for the Marines!"

Pitch the pump. You won't need anymore than a sponge if you plan on plugging your scupper holes. If you don't weigh more than about a buck 85 you won't need to do that on a 120 if you don't mind a little water in the foot well. BTW. I'm an old squid too so I wouldn't steer ya wrong. Heh heh,...

Rod holders in the front of the crate makes access to the crate while sitting a pain in the ass. I like the raising of the crate idea though. That is a good point, and I'd considered that. I plan to put items in the crate that I DON'T plan to access while out fishing. I'm trying to get my take alon...

Milk crate with rod holder

I recently modified a milk crate for my Tarpon 120. I thought the unmodified crate would be awash in water constantly, so I decided to raise the cart off the deck about 1.5 inch. I had some old PVC in the garage and cut two pieces and attached them to the bottom of the crate with cable ties. PVC pie...

Re: how do you organize your tackle?

......... Also do you guys leave your soft plastics in the bag or do you put them in the plastic boxes? .............. I'm using Zip Locks for the plastics. That way I can take a few of several different types and put them in one Zip Lock bag. I can find a convenient place around the kayak to stash...

The new cart is working out well. As it turns out I don't need the deep clearance for the V hull, but the cart works great anyway.
