The wife and I are planning to drag the popup over to Manatee Hammock SP and camp for the weekend and get out early enough to watch the launch from our LHBs as well. Will probably get over there on Friday (maybe aThursday) and do some scouting. Only fished it once a couple of years ago from a guided...

Looks like the trip is still on for the Memorial Day weekend. We found a spot on Sanibel Island for a couple of nights. Going to be about half way between Tarpon Bay and the gulf side of the island. Anyone ever paddle/fish this area? Looking to wet a line at least once while we're there. The park we...

I was hoping I wasn't alone in my opinion. At this point, looks like we are going to have to scrub our plans for a camping trip over the holidays. But I have some time coming up next week and hope I can get the LHB wet. I'm tired of seeing it setting on the wall and not getting used.

Thanks again everyone, I have scoped out the chas (both their website and a satelite view). It looks pretty nice. I have to find out if they will allow more than one tent on a site and then if they have more than one site available for that weekend if they don't. I looked at Mary's as well. It seems...

Terry,

Sorry, I missed your reply about Saddle Creek. I fished there once when I had a bass boat, but never tried to camp. It was a thought of despiration anyway. Thanks for the heads up....is it that bad??? Can't be any worst than Lake Louisa SP.

I looked at their website. Very nice looking campground. We may give them a call tomorrow to see if they have any vacancies for the holiday weekend. Only drawback is, if they hold true to the site, you can only have one tent per site, which means we will have to get two sites. I'll find out tomorrow...

I appreciate all of the input guys/gals. If it were not for having a three year old with us, we may be open for a more rustic adventure. Looks like we will have to settle for something a little inland and plan on driving to a fishing location. Has anyone ever used Lake Manatee SP? It isn't too far f...

Not familiar with that area at all, but was really wanting to stay as close to the gulf or bay as possible. I may look into Lake Manatee S.P. It's not really where I would prefer to be, but it's not too far from EGS or CRB and I could still get some fishing in. My initial thoughts were to go up towa...

The Pine Island I'm refering to is right outside the Weeki Wachee/Bayport area. I've been to that area this past winter, but didn't recall seeing any campgrounds. There is a beach there, but no place to set up a couple of tents. It doesn't really have to be that area, but we are wanting to be on the...

Tent Camping in the Brooksville/Pine Island Area

We are looking for a camping area that would be good to bring a small child for the Memorial Day weekend. Something in the Brooksville/Pine Island area is what we are thinking about. I would prefer to be near the gulf, but as long as it's not too far, that would be OK. Anyone have any suggestions? N...

Terry, I totally agree. As you said, if you can afford them, Rx polarized without a doubt the way to go. I myself have lost some very expensive shades and definitely see the difference between the two. If I were still fishing tournaments I would want as good as I can afford. My fishing these days is...

I have worn a pair of fit overs from Walmart for about two years. They were about $30. Again, not the most stylish but they don't look too bad. I wear a pair of green lenses and the wife is wearing amber, which work great in low light situations. The biggest thing is dependant on what style of Rx fr...

I have one of each. A manual SOS that I wear in my kayak, and an auto inflate made by Mustang that I wear if I'm in a stink pot. I figure if I fall out of my kayak, chances are I will still be coherant enough to deploy the manual if I really need to. Whereas if thrown from a stink pot, I may not hav...

Hey Bill, I patched a pair a few years back and used bicycle tube patches and it worked pretty good for a while. Put a patch on both sides of the leak if you can. Hopefully it isn't in a spot that does a lot of bending. Make sure you give it plenty of time to cure before you try to use them. I haven...
