Hahahaha. There is a lesson in here somewhere for an old stumbling gypsy friend of mine.

Re: Hobie Outback v. Revo

Now that I have had both (previously noted) and learned the quirks of each, The Hobie Revolution wins HANDS DOWN. It has the speed, with turbo fins, and paddles well. I have been in real skinny water with it and with the fins up (you gotta learn not to push on the peddles) there is no need to remov...

I have a redfish 10, cool little boat that I use mostly for guests and for river paddles.

Serious question. Is there any substantial difference between a redfish 12 and a wilderness tarpon 12?

Re: outback vs revo

After 3 weeks of agonizing over which one to purchase, I set out early one saturday morning with my mind made up to get the outback. When I arrivied at the dealer, the owner who had been working with me for the past 3 weeks was busy with another customer, so I had time to ponder my decision. Upon t...

Knowing how often I hit bottom and damage my Hobie Peddles, I can imagine the buyer of this thing replacing the Mini Kota plug in on a regular basis several time, followed by a sale on craigslist. My opinion.... great for guys trolling offshore who want don't want to paddle, or who want to troll han...

You can also leave your car at bayport park, which is at the end of sr50. This adds about an hour to the trip, but puts you all the way out to he mouth of the bay into the salt water. This way you get to see the entire river, including the salt marsh.

Nice Pics! I live down the street from weeki wachee in Hernando Beach. Trash on the river is a big problem. Last month before I left for south america my best friend and I did a garbage run and we took out over 200 pounds of trash, and we barely dented the problem. Our kayaks were loaded to the gill...

I guess it largely depends on what you plan to do and also your physical condition. Many guys that are in shape can and do stand and cast out of their kayaks without the need of outriggers. My cousin stands and flyfishes out of his hobie quest unaided by any outrigger system. the Quest is much like ...

Right, and he should have floated himself right to shore. Chasing that boat out into the open ocean, with a big shark hooked up to it was nothing short of a horrible decision. In the story, he reaches the boat totally exhaused, and only reaches it because the shark broke off. IF the shark didn't bre...

2 miles away and in 6 foot seas? Nope, chase the PFD.
He had the PFD on.

Why?

Its perfect for backing a reel. It grabs to the spool well and makes a great interface between the reel/braid.

Mono can actually work better for bottom fishing due to Braid's propensity to wander and tangle when dropped straight down for long distances. This is especially true when a lot of lines are in the water. Other than that, its braid all the way.
