I've got a PVC one, never use it anymore, I just drop anchor. No muss, no fuss.

I must have missed something entertaining :) A "Where can I park and not get my truck broken into" page is about what I've used the current destinations lage for. I don't want to know anyone's sekrit spot, I'm perfectly happy finding my own places to not catch fish  I seldom go anypl...

Being able to find a new put in spot in the area I want to check out is pretty handy, it's saved me a lot of gas and time. I don't like using boat ramps in general, most aren't set up for beach landings very well or have a seawal of some sort that stops it entirely. No one's gotten mobbed yet (that ...

None, 99.999% of the places I fish it would be a waste. It's rare that I'm in more than 6 feet of water, generally only 2'-4' if I'm fishing. The TX boys seem to use them more than people in our neck of the woods. Polarized sunglasses are a must though. Edit - The GPS is pretty handy. It's no better...

Sheer laziness. There's a lot to be said for being able to go from loading to being on the water in 15 minutes, and being able to unload and clean up in under 10.

Incidentally, that's same reason (sloth) that I don't stop for bait :)

WalMart has decent polarized prescription glasses as well, priced a bit lower than the optical shops. Depends on where you want your money to go. The best fishing glasses I've worn have been the $9.99 plastic "Flying Fish" ones. You lose some of the spiffy coatings, but the glare reduction...

What do you guys suggest my new cheap reel this season should be? The low end gray plastic Penns that look like rebranded Okumas(I don't think they are). The drag is pretty nice, but the rest of the reel is pot metal and plastic. Lightweight, and good for a year or so and that's it. For $30 they ar...

Falcon Coastal rods and Penn Slammer reels. Love the rods. Slammer reels are a tad heavier than the competition for the same line capacities, but I like the drag, they're durable, they don't look stupid and are US made. If they're anything like other Penn reels, parts will be available forever, maki...

I used too, but "paddled around a bit, got skunked" makes for a boring read later.

*Edit - And besides, my memory usually provides of much better picture of my fishing trips that a reality based journal :)

They aren't glamorous, but the Penn SS series are still very good reels. They can take a real beating over the course of years, and parts are easy to get. The spool shape isn't the greatest compared to some newer reels, but you can't have everything. I like the look of the Penn Slammer spinning reel...

There are even a few people that carry a Cell Phone - VHF - and FRS. I'm one of them, the VHF doesn't usually get turned on unless someone else using one is around, but it's nice to know it's there. At a guess it's more reliable than a cel in the marine enviroment. I've lost cel signal more than on...

Generally 2.

1 light-medium with a jerkbait that I catch almost all my fish on.

1 medium with a topwater, shad tail or spoon.

15lb on the pair of reels I use most of the time. Don't think I'll respool with it again though, Power Pain would be a better name for it.
