I don't know who makes it, just has a tag that says Made in USA and Canoe Country logo on it. Forgot to mention it had bungee leashes for the rod holders that, when cris-crossed across the back, make a great place to hold rainjacket, towel, etc. I'll try to post some pics next time I get on the wate...

Relief is at hand!

Just tried out my new seat. It is a high back with a lumbar support roll that is adjustable, from Canoe Country, $129. It has pockets on both sides of the seat (that I can actually reach) for small plano or dry boxes, a pliers holster, tackle bag and rod holders attached to the rear. I don't use the...

No criticism here. Sounds like you took prudent measures, radio, pfd, etc. Probably we have all launched thinking the weather was going to hold but were later surprised. Hard to fault a guy for trying to fish. Glad you are able to tell the story. Thanks.

Got this from FWC

FWC has added an additional and final public non-motorized boating community listening session to be held in the southwest region of the state in Punta Gorda. Join us Monday, July 27th, from 6:30-8:00 p.m., at the Charlotte Harbor Conference Center. If you are unable to attend this Listening Sessio...

I can't say Neil got me into kayak fishing, but over the years, he sure has helped me catch more fish, pay more attention to how I handle those I do catch and how to read the water and my surroundings. I have never fished with him. this was simply from his posts, his fishing reports, his seminars, h...

The FWC has no control over launch spots. It is true they do not own or maintain launch areas, but the purpose of the discussion was to have some design guidelines in place that address safety issues and safety is within the purview of FWC. Those guidelines could be used (similar to those on signag...

I guess the economy claims another victim.
The economy does not make an honest man a thief, he was a thief before, it's just easier for social engineers to justify in a bad economy.

Sorry about your canoe.

Great pictures, makes me homesick for my mountains. I miss my annual visits. Hope you were able to make it to Cataloochie, it is a neat place, but my favorite is still Cades Cove at dusk. If you have the opportunity and are so inclined, consider one of the horseback trail rides either at Cades Cove ...

I have no experience with Okuma reels but as noted above, they seem to be dependable. I have a couple of Penn's in pieces from when I only did wade fishing and they were dunked repeatedly and, admittedly, I did not rinse them and lube them as I should have. I have been using the Shimano Sahara for t...

I'm still not sure what all of the hubub is re Stripers. They seem easy tp catch. Not nearly as fun as reds and snook. I concur. I caught several many years ago in NC in the 24-30" range and reds and snook of the same size put up a much better fight in my opinion. Having said that, my brother ...

I went, the only person I knew there was Neil Taylor. There were 20-25 in attendance, mostly paddlers, but there were a few power boaters and sailors too. FWC staff facilitated the discussion, but they had no set agenda, we talked about what we wanted to talk about and they listened. Some topics inc...

I had a laminectomy about a year and a half ago. Prior to that I did the Chiro thing several times (big $ over time), Phys Therapy 3X and had 3 steroid injections, all gave temporary and shorter duration relief. The surgery worked, but the disease is progressive and apparently chronic (stenosis, deg...

Now if that fish was being held properly, you would not be able to see the man-boobs, which ain't bad, by the way.
