I usually keep mine set pretty light, but tighten it down the closer I am to mangroves or structure, unless I forget, which usually only happens when I am throwing a spook or some other $8 plug and by then it is too late. Seems I never forget to tighten it down when I am throwing a 89 cent jig head....

Outfreakinstanding! Congrats, Gary. You look pretty worried in one of those pics but looks like you whipped him pretty good.

Great pictures, too.

I grew up in Boca, he has many choices. Any of the bridges along the ICW will be holding snook, especially fishing the shadow lines at night on a moving tide (heavy spinning gear with a stout leader is needed tied to a big zaraspook or yellow or white feather), surf fishing is good, especially durin...

Sounds like your Mom's influence will be felt for many future generations and that is quite a legacy. Condolences and prayers from my family to yours.

If you can....

hug your Mom today. If she is far away call her, if she is gone, touch her through prayer and recall a special memory.

They are gone too, too quickly and we can never say thank you enough.

I especially like that the fish coordinates well with your kayak. Color coordination is important.
Thanks for noticing, I've worked hard to get that orange to fade to just the perfect hue.

Even a blind hog stumbles across a corn cob now and then. I need to learn how to take pics that make my fish look bigger.

Give me a PM if you are up for a midweek trip next week.

Mid Day trip

Decided to fish the tide change and then the falling tide. Got many good trout on 12 Fathom jig and a 23 incher on spook jr. Chased some wary reds around, and finally just staked out on a flat and the school moved to me. Spotted a tail and first cast landed this one. http://i68.photobucket.com/album...

You found what I was looking for in the same area. I think we launched at about the same time, just went different directions. Got two blow ups from reds on spook, but no takers. Lots and lots of good size trout is all I found, at least they were eatin good. Did you get crowded by a pimped out tower...

A couple years ago, I dropped one at EG Simmons and, amazingly, found it back tracking. I surmise a mangrove pulled it right out of the rod holder behind me. Good thing it was low tide or I would have never seen it again.

Anyone ever use these?

Kind of depends on water clarity for me. If the surf is all roiled up and cloudy go with a darker color (especially the bottom color), if it is clear a lighter one.

On the east coast I used to get snook off a jetty at night on a full size black spook.

No idea if this would work for your problem, but I know that charcoal will absorb odors from articles. You might try putting the boots in a rubber maid type container with some loose charcoal lying on newspaper and seal it up for a day or so. I've seen crime scene folks use it. Not sure if it would ...

The first time I met JayB, a couple years ago, I had no idea who he was, we just found ourselves at a FtD launch returning at the same time. Both of us had a skunk trip, something I gathered I am much more experienced at than he. We struck up a conversation and he imparted his considerable knowledge...
