Re: Orange EVA grip material

That's funny. Everyone keeps telling the guy as soon as he starts using this rod he'll stop catching fish.

Finally found what I was looking for. The rod isn't finished yet but here's a peek The rods finished but don't have any good pictures. Here's the owner, 2nd cast 2nd fish. The rods blue with an orange fade. Painted the reel to match along with matching line color. http://bayareareelservice.com/image...

Couple things I've been working on

Just finished an 80lb. trolling rod. The guy wanted dark blue and black with no details. That's to dull for me so I spiced it up a little. He's happy. http://bayareareelservice.com/FishFour.jpg http://bayareareelservice.com/FishTrolling.jpg One of these days I'll get around to finishing this one. Th...

Re: Reel grease and oils...

Thats why I use silicone grease and oils. I use what use to be called Dow 33. Minus 100 to plus 3 or 40 degree. Its great for light loads and drags.

Re: Reel grease and oils...

Any reel oils will work although I use silicone oil. S&w gun oil and paint ball oil is silicone oil both are good for reel oils. Marine grade grease with teflon is a good choice for spinning and conventional reels. A lighter grease should be used light gears. Drag felts get oiled while fiber dra...

what is it

A couple weeks ago I caught a few fish I've never seen before in the south end of sketter lagoon . They're similar to a ribbon fish but has no tail. The head looks like mackerel with fangs like a barracuda. Its silver with white meat and all were 30 to 36". I've been fishing Florida since I was...

Re: New rebuild

Doug let me cast one of his rods a couple years ago. It was very smooth and felt good but a 1/2oz. hunk of lead flies through the air differently than a 1/2oz. lure. As you said, I've been curious ever since.

New rebuild

Something I'm working on. I'm going to compare my own guide design against the micro-wave guides. The blanks, reels, lures and line are identical. I want to see if casting distance changes. http://bayareareelservice.com/images/Stuff/BrGrnTanStarTopSide.jpg http://bayareareelservice.com/images/Stuff/...

Re: Need some advice.

There's no difference in my opinion. You do the same things but have more options with different structure and types of fish. Get to know the areas, types of fish at what time of year, tides etc. and go for it.
