You can launch at ken Thompson park or just north of the new pass bridge on the west side...there are plenty of areas to fish within paddling distance and both within Sarasota

Finally got out to the northern part of Sarasota Bay. Started off slow with just a few ladyfish (one was about 19in) but then landed an in slot red and lost another at the side if my kayak. I actually launched from Bayshore Gardens at the dead end of 26th St. West. It was a decent paddle out there but plenty of pot holes to fish on the way.
