Re: Dolphin Fish Thief

Have had live baits stripped by dolphins for years around the skyway. Last few years we have Been shadowed by them from Miguel Bay to Emerson Pt. especially when out with the kids in the ladyfish and mackerel schools. They put on quite the show chasing released fish and laying boat side waiting for ...

Re: Native Ultimate 14 - pics added

My two cents. Feathered paddle upwind, unfeathered at all other times. Downwind is nice with an umbrella, as Rick has demonstrated to me in the past. Just a couple of observations well earned over the last decade.
Rick, thanks for the review, great job.

I use Homer Rhode's Loop Knot. 50% strength (doesn't matter when the leader is much heavier than the line). It's so easy to tie and haven't had one slip ever (been using it for at least 10yrs). Ties reliably in every leader size, I've used it up to 100lb mono and flouro. It can be found on page 56/5...

I would think a couple of those would be sufficient compensation for a certain boat ride a couple of Januaries ago.

Getting the fever I think. I've been wanting to long wand one all my life, now I have the chance. Hopefully the fish will accomodate.

Thanks for the tip Noles, have some toads on the way.

John, I like plain old white decievers and clousers, add flash to taste. More flash for stained water. Chartreuse with an olive back, some peacock hurl if you prefer something more visual. I had good success with both last year, with flies and hand tied bucktails. Side note, I was beach fishing whit...

Thanks Noles! Looking forward to the season! What do you switch to after sun up? Also, do you have a source for a couple of samples to copy from? I have a limited amount of materials and some very limited skill. I tie some ugly flies, but they usually catch fish. Thanks again!

Beach tarpon flies

Just aquired a killer 12wt for the season this year. What are the favorite (most successful) flies?

"They're right there."

Maybe not an "ism", but it was what he told me 20 times if he told me once while he schooled me on a pod of reds in C-Roach. Just Jay, me and fish that were in on the fact that the old man was giving me a clinic. It was MAJIC!
