Re: Facebook Heroes on the Water Request

I stopped by the HOW booth at the Florida Sportsman show and talked at length with a USF Navy ROTC cadet about the program. Seems like a great organization. Is this the same group as yours or a different group?

Too close. I was behind a tree but he still passed within about 10 feet of me  . There were a lot of other people around but they had the good sense to get well back from him. He just ambled by pretty much ignoring everyone.

Re: Looking for a productive fishing trip

It would be hard to find a better place if fishing is your goal. Pine Island feels secluded, but you are actually close to Ft. Myers and all the city amenities. There are also some nice "Old Florida" restaurants on the island. You are also within striking distance of the Everglades for a d...

Harbor Freight and Northern Tool both have some 8" and 10" wheels for $10.00 or less. They are pneumatic (sp) tires and look a lot wider than lawn mower wheels. Not sure if they would work, but it might be worth a look. http://www.harborfreight.com/10-inch-pneumatic-tire-with-gold-hub-4147...

Re: Weedon Island 8/23/12

The trails he's talking about are the green paddling trails you paddle through. Unless it is low tide, you won't have to drag the kayak. A lot of it is through mangrove tunnels and are very scenic. It takes about 15 minutes to get from the launch to the bay by the north section of the trail, i.e. 1 ...

How about a chartruese clouser for those elite anglers who prefer the long rod?

Fly casting clinic.

Pat Damico is presenting a fly casting clinic on September 8 and Maximo Park. He's a great teacher and it is well worth the time if you want to improve your casting. Here is a link to info.

Anything short of a dry fly is marginal anyway. If you are going to fish streamers in salt, you might as well add a spoonfly too.

Re: Caladesi Island

Caladesi is basically my home turf since I am only about 10 minutes away. It is great in the fall, spring and winter, but less so in the summer. This time of year, I would pick Ft. Desoto. Boat traffic in the channel can get heavy, but there are a lot of kayaks out there and most boater are aware of...
