Tarpon Springs
A week of rain has built up an itch for my fishing fix. It will be low tide this morning wind from the east. I will try Howard park this morning and fish the flats near the drop offs. Later I will report the result.

Re: Anyone fishing in this heat?
Early morning low tide, red fish tails everywhere. Would not take a lure they must have been feeding on grass shrimp. Caught 1 30 in after 2 hours on cut bait ...my only bite. Activity stopped around 10am. Hooked a spinner shark as I was leaving the flats got 2 jumps then cut off. The 5.00 fee reall...

Honeymoon Island
Launched from Dunedin Causeway Sat morning. On the way I saw a large collection of tower boats on the causeway it looked like a fishing tourney was about to start. The advertised 5 mph wind was double. However; I fish when I can. The water was "sporty" to say the least combination west win...

d -day at caladesi
Arrived at caladesi island @7:30 Mullet were boiling for hundreds of yards. Using a Paul Brown Devil I caught many small trout but using cut bait I caught Red after red size 21 to 22 inches. They hit almost the moment the bait hit the water. By 9:30 the mullet disappeared and the bite quit. Absolute...

Re: Caladesi island
Near the pass next to the main island is a small island with bird sanctuary signs. The pass between the islands funnel bait onto the flats to the south, find the broken bottom 300 yards south. I catch trout, reds, tarpon in the deep spot etc. the best tide is incoming which floods the flats.

Re: Fish Grip vs, Landing Net
I used both and currently use a grip. Mainly because the grip takes up less space in the kayak.

mojarra redfish
Took advantage of the incoming tide Friday. Searched for and found a large mullet school threw doa and top water for an hour not even a needle fish. Cast netted a dozen mojarra, the first cast a 34 inch redfish. Later everything apparently eats mojarra but is too small lots of snappers in the water ...

new kayak reccommend.
My 12' Heritage is starting to get old after 4 years. I do not have the Heritage problem with scupper holes although I lived in fear after reading about this. What is your recommendation for a good fishing Kayak to replace it?. I fish inshore on the flats and next to the mangroves. It is a 2 mile pa...

double branch launch machine
I looked at the canoe launch device in the upper tampa bay park. The launch looks easy sit in and give it a yahoo. The kayak should slide in. I could not imagine how to use this for landing a kayak. It must work but the method eludes my understanding. I either overlooked the instructions or there we...

Re: Snook Opening
Why would they open snook season before they fully recover? Follow the money. How many snook stamps are sold when the season is closed. I'll bet they lost tons of revenue for a perennially cash strapped gov. agency.

Re: strange shark behavior
Update on the sharks. It seems that it is nurse shark mating season. They come to the flats for some woopie activity and the tail waving is common to this activity. Who knew.
