Could it have been a Flats Stalker? They look similar to what you described, although I have seen mention of people fishing from SUP's. Gets me to thinking... beach tarpon on a SUP?! Now THAT might qualify as hardcore.

Do this, and you can use braid on any reel. I have an old Penn 430ss that works just fine with PowerPro.

At a minimum, give your reels a light freshwater spray after every use then dry them off. I use a small pressurized garden sprayer that puts out a nice mist and has a lock on the handle, so I can 'set it and forget it.' Next, get a can of corrosion inhibitor—Corrosion X, Corrosion Block, etc. Put so...
