Tarpon Key 12/10/11

Went out for the early low tide Saturday. At the beginning we saw mullet all over tailing but didn't see any redfish tails. I did end up catching 3 flounders in some potholes in the morning the biggest being 15". About midday the tide had come up a good ways and then we started seeing a few red...

Re: Black Friday / E.G. Simmons

I'll tell him that. He is always smiling no matter what, he couldn't keep a straight face if he tried. Beside that that is his biggest redfish so far, so he was pretty excited.

Re: Skrimpin Report

Well that stinks that the seasons almost over, because I love eating shrimp. I've been around, between getting a house and fixing it up and going to mexico I've been a little busy and haven't gotten out to fish in the salt to much. I did get out this past sat. and saw a ton of tarpon but also a ton ...

The second reason for the trip was to get to know the people and to get a vision of what their imediate needs are. Which basically was two houses and a church. We are going to be talking to a local company or two who have an intrest in suporting this ministry in the up coming weeks. I do have a ton ...

Well to answer your question hatch they have had the highest river level recorded this year and thus it has taken longer to go down. Your probably wondering why that matters. Well when the water is high the fish go back into the flooded jungle which makes it much more difficult if not impossible to ...

Flyfishing in Brazil (Amazon)

I was able to go on a Fish'n Mission' Trip from Sept. 11 to the 20th, wherein we met up with Rick and Kim Parker who are missionaries with a river ministry down on the amazon. We were able to see what the Lords been doing in the lives of the river people that they minister to. I was in the group of ...

I like to go on night trips and I wouldn't mind going with someone else. Normally I go by myself though.
Other than one time I scared a dolphin that didn't see me and my kayak, my night time fishing experiences have been rather placid, and its a great way to beat the heat of summer.

I haven't had a problem with the nail knot to connect the leader to fly line when tied properly and it doesn't snag any weeds if the tags are trimmed down. In fact Ive snapped 20 lb fluorocarbon (the lightest section of my leader set up) and the nail knot did not slip or move or any thing, the line ...

I don't think I put any nicks in it I had only used some little panfish poppers on it to try it out with a 6wt line on a little pond and then put the 8wt on there to try it instead. I only had it for about a two weeks. I guess it could have been a defect.

I'm not an expert at all and I don't claim to be but I once put some 8wt line on a 6/7 wt rod and on the 4th back cast the rod snapped in half, but in those first casts it was great. It was going up one and a half wt's but I would just say be careful. I took the rod back and they replaced it for fre...

I'm not good at tying but I wouldn't mind watching some seasoned fly tiers. It all depends on when and where.
