Recd a call from "Mr. OLC" this morning. In an hour and a half this morning he caught a 22" trout and 2 slot redfish.
He got run off the water early by some storms.
Hopefully, this is the start of a good trend for Erick. He was soon running out of friends to fish with because the smell was becoming unbearable.

Well there goes my story that they actually jumped into my kayak.
And it might be the company that I keep when I fish that is the problem...or maybe I need to fish areas that hold fish.
But alas, it is true. Got up, it was raining but since I was dressed and needed coffee I left the hotel anyway. Decided to head out to the launch and see if maybe it would pass. Decided the bad stuff was further away based on the distant thunder and lightning so I headed out. Got the trout on the third cast using a MirrOLure She Dog yellow and gold with a red head. But since I am minus one Boga after leaving it on a friends boat didnt really have a way to steady the fish to remove all the trebles. He had all three trebles of one hook in his mouth and the other was stuck to his side. When I removed the one from the side, somehow the other popped out (guess because of bending the barbs) and off he went. Wish I had that photo because his/her coloring was great. Very dark and rich.
Tried throwing the topwater some more but kept getting grass, although I did miss a couple of other small hits. Unfortunately that distant storm had moved closer so I headed back to the ramp. Since I could see the rain line in the distance, I started blind casting in the area and managed the first red, the bigger of the two. Based on my past outings and losing some nice fish, I really played this one gingerly to avoid any further gaffs on my part. But landed him and was extremely happy. Decided to start some more blind casting when what looked to be a school of fish headed into the area, a couple of cast and caught the smaller one. The fish were still in the area, but decided I was more than pleased, the storm was getting closer and I needed to go to work anyway. Was on the water at 7 am and off and loaded by 8:30 am. Not a bad way to spend the morning. I am on the road and will put up the photos when I get home tomorrow night. Oh, both reds were caught on an Exude Dart, it is either the Shrimp Color, or Measles, cant remember what they call it. Like I said in another thread, that is becoming one of my favorite lures. Works well when rigged weedless with all this grass.

Nice job Erick! You didn't miss out on the black drum...they left the area already Monday due to the Okechobee dumping water...
