Over every mountain there is a path, although it may not be seen from the valley

I usually use the Johnsons in 1/4 mostly in silver.
However on a recent trip to Orlando I picked up a few of these at BPS in both 1/4 and 1/2..they call them XPS Lazer Eye Weedless Spoon
Jury is still out on durability but the colors... oh the colors 8)

I've been using a Gator gold spoon with a gulp jerk shad hooked thru the lip and slid all the way up the slot in the middle of the spoon. It's weedless also. Unbelievable results.
I use a quarter ounce on the pole that I am going to hand work, slow reeling with a jerk now and again..reel too fast and it just skims along the top....(I think its the way this spoon is made)
I use the half ounce on the pole that I am trolling with while paddling...it stays closer to the bottom and I've had great results with reds that won't come up.
Once you hook this combination up...you won't believe the waving action it has....really cool !!!

Not yet...haven't caught a red for daysRandy, I like those alot. You got them at Bass Pro? Any hook ups on them yet?

I only fished them once so far. The 1/4 slim profile casts like a bullet though. The wind doesn't catch it.
The 1/2 ounce ones are a little wider about the same width as a Johnson 1/4 just longer with a larger hook.
They will get another field test on Thurs hopefully.
This having a job stuff is really starting to suck.;

I use both 1/4 and 1/2 as well....use varies with water depth. Smaller spoon for deeper water...although I have to admit I've never done the "Pepsi Challenge" myself to see exactly how much faster a 1/4 ounce falls compared to a 1/2 so I could be using two different sizes for no reason. I know the 1/4 will by sheer physics will fall faster (smaller surface area) but if that descent rate is a huge difference or not I don't know for sure. Anyone actually conducted a real world test?

In theory you would use a larger spoon in shallow water. The larger surface area of the heavier spoon allows it to ride up higher in the water column.
I have tried it but I had to reel too fast for it to ride enough not to get in the weeds all the time so I stuck to the old stand by, a 1/4 oz.

The duability is still in question but the reds, snook, trout and jacks eat 'em.I usually use the Johnsons in 1/4 mostly in silver.

No hookup problems and as yet they have not tarnished nor show any signs of rust.
The 1/2 ounce seems a little heavier than a johnsons but the slim profile
of the 1/4 has some great action.
The #41 chartruse seems to catch more fish although I have caught fish on the #31.
I have purposely left a couple unwashed to see what happens with rusting/tarnish.
