Can you feel that chill in the air? First cold front of the season passed which triggered a very nice bite. I was able to get out by myself for a little over an hour and decided to fish an area that is often overlooked by many boaters. This is not a secret spot by any means but I have caught nice redfish, snook, and trout within a 1/4 mile of the launch last winter so I thought I would try it even though it is still Fall.
It was too windy to do any kind of sightfishing, especially combined with the strong wind out of the east. I relied on blindcasting and really didn't expect to catch anything. Fourth cast, 10 feet off the shoreline I felt a thump..Set the hook and I honestly thought I had hooked a log! A few seconds later a monster snook appears on the surface, only the head showing and attempting to shake the hook.
This snook made two strong runs, then bulldogged it's way around for a couple minutes and then fell victim to the boga. I was stoked to say the least! It measured 40" and hopefully the picture does it justice. Caught on Rapala Twitchin Rap in Hot Bone color with 30# fluorocarbon leader.
The next day Rob and I launched in the sound to chase redfish tails. I love low tides because you won't see many boaters in the spots we fish since it sometimes gets shallow enough to get stuck in the yak! Rob and I ended up catching two redfish a piece to 29" and loads of trout.
We had many opportunities at redfish tails but the turtle grass was so thick that it was like wrestling a bear trying to get the bait near the redfish's nose. That being said, we caught one tailing red each. My tailer was caught on a Gulp Shrimp while Rob's was caught on a Superspook Jr. Watching that red turn it's head from the grass to the plug was awesome! FYI, the reds were riding the outgoing tide.
(The lighting was tough today with it being overcast so the pictures aren't the best)
This picture was taken by our friend Tim who decided to fish No Fish Bay..Awesome pic Tim!

It is the new light green color for the 08 models. I still haven't decided if it looks good or notredfisher wrote:Great report and pics as always.
Is that a new color on the Heritage? I don't think I have seen that before.
Usually just use the self timer on the camera or a remote to initiate the shutter. Camera is usually seated on top of the Pelican case or on the front hatch.pbr wrote:How do you take the self portraits? Is the camera mounted somehow?
appreciate any advice.
Don't have a guide service. Just a recreational yakker who is fortunate enough to fish 2-3 times a week.RockinNReelin wrote:GORGEOUS pics!! Nice fish! What's the name of your Guide service?

God what hawg of a fish... nice snook and great pics. That third pic almost looks 3-D. I think when you have an overcast day, some bright colors really stand out.
