This is my first carbon composite rod grips. It turned out OK; but there's still room for improvement. The composite grip is suppose to be 30% lighter than regular cork grip handle. So in my quest for building light rods; I had to give it a try. The completed rod wieghed in at 5.4 oz. The rod was built with a St. Croix SCIII blank, Fuji Alconite guides & reel seat.
Here's what other options (borrowed from RodMaker magazine):

Not sure; I may have to build a duplicate rod using the conventional build and compare the two.Rik wrote:What would it have weighed with a conventional build?noles wrote:The completed rod wieghed in at 5.4 oz.

From what I've been told it's not much of an issue. It has the same feel as one of my custom grips. I'll know for sure once I put it to the test.
