An anti reverse on a spinning reel?
Any "reverse reelers" out there?
It's a function of a spinning reel I've never understood much less used it.

Tighten your drag down as tight as it will go. Flip the anti-reverse off and just "palm" the spool for drag on the big fish. Lots of fun. No reason to spend a lot of money on a reel with a good drag.

I flipped that thing off just once. I wanted to let some line out to troll with a top water so I figured that it would just go out slowly. As I put the rod in the Scotty I got a HUGE hit from a catfish. The handle came around and hit the side bone in my wrist. Not once, but two or three times. I saw stars and almost dropped the pole. By the time I got it under control I had a birds nest the size of a soft ball. I think I'll glue all the levers in the on position.

Ummmm, the reels I really like, the anti reverse works. The reels I like a little less, the anti reverse does not work anymore. but I still use them. The one's I like a lot less are the one's I took apart or tried to take apart, to fix the anti reverse, and lost or broke something.
