Well, after contemplating for a few hours this morning, I decided to brave the cold and headed for an area that I'd be somewhat protected from the cold wind.
I had a destination where I felt the fish would be and fished other areas on the way there with no luck. I could see ladyfish just under the surface of the water and couldn't get them to bite. That made me think that if lady fish wouldn't bite, surely it would be impossible to get the snook to bite.
Nearing my destination, I ran into the grim reaper.
As I neared my destination, I could see some bait scattering and then whoosh. It looked like I timed it just right. They were feeding.
My first cast was with the Nemire spoon I had just purchased. Hooked up with a nice one but pulled the hook in the first 30 seconds of battle. A few more cast, a few bumps but no hooksets. One last try on the Nemire and blamo. This time the battle was won. Smaller than the one I lost but still full of spunk.
The bite suddenly shut down there and a short distance away I managed my only other snook of the day, caught on a bone colored Spook Jr.
I was really surprised how hard the snook fought, despite the cold weather. I suppose the water temperature isn't as cold as past years, yet. I hope the next front doesn't put them in the dormant mode.

I'm glad I have a set of neopremes and breathables. The neopremes I bought by mistake last year and never sent them back for a refund. I'm glad I had them today. They kept me warm.
Anyone want to rent them for Saturday's tournament? :P
