Looks like a few Quantum fans out there. I have a 1x used Catalyst that I would love to trade for a Shimano.

I voted, assuming you meant inshore fishing, since it is a paddle-fishing site.

Offshore I'd have a different answer.

I bought a couple of quantum bocas last year nad although I love their action, I keep having trouble with them binding up. I already have had them into fisherman's world for repair. Ihave a number of cheap and not so cheap shimano's and have used them for years with no problems at all.

BTW - the two Okuma's I have are both pieces of junk. Within a year the finishes were shot and the action is not great.

One of the best medium priced reels I have is a Cabela's Prodigy bought on sale with my reward points. I think it went for $59 and I bought it to let people use when I took them fishing. It has been a real workhorse and I would highly recommend it. I am not sure who makes it for them.

I will trade you 2 Stradic 2500's for your Catalyst. and one of them grinds even after service. That was the most money I have ever thrown away on fishing equipment. I am not a Shimono hatter by any means I have 2 Saharas one that I have had for several years that perform much better for me anyway. I treat them all the same light rinse and lube after each use.

Roger, I do believe those are made by Diawa. I have one as well.

I had three reels out today. The prodigy, a Shimano Sahara and the Boca. The only one I had trouble with was the Boca which was also the most expensive.

I like my Shimano Symetres but my stradic never works for more than 2 trips before it binds up. The stradic is my most expensive reel. The finish came off my Okumo Epixors but they work great

Without a doubt Okuma VS...I have used the Okuma VS and Quantum Cabo side by side and the VS is smoother, casts better and has a great drag system....
