I use a pulley set that is designed for a bike. They have them at Lowes for about $30.00.

Osprey Bay Outdoors, Clearwater, sells one like this. I think they charge less than Cabelas.
Screws into the rafters.

I kept mine very simple. Lowes sells a set of two ropes, rachet blocks and hooks for under $20 bucks. I use one at each end of the kayak.
Being out on the water in the kayak is the prize. Catching fish is the bonus.

Lift System

Post by RalphTomaccio »

I have one of these:

http://www.harkenstore.com/uniface.urd/ ... Z56LC6T4CE

and

http://www.harkenstore.com/uniface.urd/ ... Z56LC7E77U

It works great and is very well made. It provides a mechanical advantage of 3 to 1, meaning that a 60 pound kayak is going to feel like 20 pounds while lifting. I priced it out to buy the parts at Home Depot and it ended up to be about the same, but you wouldn't have the mechanical lift advatage. So, it seemed like a "no brainer" in my mind.[/url]

You better not be hanging that beautiful kayak on a pulley system!
