With the new HOBIE Mirage Drive quick mounting, it becomes necessary to be on the safe side and tether the drive to the kayak should you remove it for any reason, or flip it and it comes loose.
I simply used some parachute cord and drilled a 5/16" hole in the front of the drive in the triangular area and tied the parachute cord to it and attached a carabiner to the other end of the cord and that fastens to the bungee that holds the lid on the front hatch. Or you can add a pad eye and attach the carabiner to that.

Re: HOBIE Mirage Drive Tethering
I did not drill a hole. I used one of the adjustment holes on the starboard peddle and tied a short length of line, long enough to lift the drive out of the well, and attach the line to the starboard pad eye with a carabiner. I have the old cam style mount.
It's the other three quarters that can't be trusted!!!
