Friday the wind blew

Post by nemo327 »

My son and I almost didn't go out Friday because of the wind forecast of 15 mph. It was fairly calm in the morning so we decided to limit the trip to noon before the afternoon blow began. The day was overcast, the tide was coming in, the moon is almost full. This is a day that adds up to no fish..WRONG. We fished Caladesi Island with DOA shrimp and simply slayed Red fish, 4 at 22 inches and 3-4 shorts. The big surprise was trout. We caught 4 24 inch trout along with many slot or under trout. The fish were on fire with plenty of big ones. The time is 2 pm the chop was reaching 1 foot and the wind was howling. The tide was running out and we still got bites on the flats finally we called it a day. This NE wind is murder to paddle against but the anticipation of boasting about our catch made it bearable. Note..No illegal fish were harmed on this trip or any outing we go on. Yellow mouth trout have an impressive set of choppers my thumb may never be the same.
