Launched about 20 minutes before sunrise. Caught a large lady fish within 5 minutes. She exploded on a spook jr. I was convinced, for about a second, that it was a nice snook. Headed north past the powerlines and caught a nice slot red(24") on a lil' John in about a foot of water. A few minutes later a flounder decided he too was a lil' John fan. Several charter boats came in to enjoy a beautiful morning. The bite seemed to shut down quickly, and I was back at the launch by noon.
I do have a question for the lil' John users out there. Numerous times I felt something grab it, and quickly let go. At first I thought I was just missing the hook set. After a while I feel like it may have been small stuff that just wanted to give the scented lure a taste. Any thoughts?
