Help First time fishing Stuart, FL area
I will be in Stuart, FL for a few weeks in april and hoping to be able to launch my kayak and fish when work schedule permits. I've never fished this area before and looking for any hints or tips on where to go and where to avoid. I've heard near the power plant is good but i cant seem to find it via airial photos. I will problably only use artifical baits.

Sounds like someone's trolling for DOA spots...
Search for Little Mud Creek.. its close to the power plant which is on AIA side of the river up N. of Stuart

DOA spots? I'm not following? I live in Tampa and I only use artificial's inshore unless I'm fishing for sheepshead.

The DOA tourney is in that time period. Seems you're not fishing it.
Over every mountain there is a path, although it may not be seen from the valley

I've always had the best luck up a bit North at Round Island.. Ft. Pierce N. causeway, head North on AIA about 4 or 5 miles it will be on your left.
That whole area of the IRL was hit very hard in the last couple years with a loss of grass beds/flats.
Yes DOA tournament is in April, I'll be fishing again this year, and would love to hear of some good spots in the area. I usually fish one of the following area's, Round Island, Ft. Fierce N. causeway first boat ramp after crossing the river, or Bear Point. many people also fish Mud Creek, Little Mud, and areas near the power plant. 120 paddlers in the tournament so there will be paddlers every-where that week.

Jensen Beach causeway to the north will give you kayak access to lots of good flats. The South side flats are generally more protected. Be aware of traffic in the main north- south boat channel. I have caught trout, pompano and bluefish there.
Be thankful for every day and especially those fine days on the water

Sorry it's taken this long to post. My trip was not the greatest but hey I never expect a lot when fishing new territory for the first time. I caught a few under slot snook no reds and 1 keeper trout.
Re: Help First time fishing Stuart, FL area
My avid fisherman contact in Stuart says the trout fishing in the ICW/Stuart has been poor.
The suspected reasons are the intense pressure, the (perhaps) too big a bag limit and especially the fact that commercial fishing for trout is allowed by permit and there are more commercial trout permit holders each year.
I will check on the snook fishing along the Stuart beaches and post a report soon. Lots of opportunities from St Lucie Inlet up to Ft Pierce Inlet in June- July - August.
