thread....is it me or

Post by yohan1973 »

does guidrod thread suck.
I've got 5 spools of it and one spool of pacific bay.
ALL of the guidrod thread is prone to the "fuzzies"
The pacific bay is not! However, everyone carried guidrod but not pacific bay.....What's up with that?

Never had a problem with them. You might want to check the amount of tension you're apply on the thread. Are you getting the fuzzies after cutting the thread? If so, carefully run a lighter over the wrap to get rid of the fuzzies.

I got the fuzzies throughout the entire wrap.
I was testing colors on a scrap blank the same color as the blank I'm going to build. I really didn't notice how bad it was till I put the epoxy on. Ugg, I'm glad I didn't encounter that with the first rod, inwhich I used pacific bay thread.
Hmmm, so is my tension too tight? I'll try it again tonight with less tension. Thanks...

Question:
Anyone know what color thread Scott used on their new G2?
It looks like they when with some sort of Honey colored regular nylon thread and didn't use color preserver. It looks wonderful!

could be, I'll print a G2 pic and take it to mudhole.
It's imposible to determine thread color using the printed color charts from the manufacture.

Screw it. Buy gold. I'm telling you, BUY GOLD. It is the coolest color thread on the face of the planet.

I just took a peek at it. It kinda looked like a red :?:

You took a peek at the G2 or at gold thread? lol
I have not seen the G2 in person yet. I first saw it in a mag and thought..."WOW!" Then looked it up online.
I really like regular thread without color preserver!
I like the way wraps look when you can see the guide feet through it.
I'll be going to Mudhole tommorow and I'll be sure to pick up gold and maybe two other colors (Garnet and maybe some aqua type color) just to experiment with. I've got metalic silver and pale gold. I've been practicing single thread and spiral trim with the metalic threads.
