Since the old Space Guppy event, the most productive lures I've used are soft plastics, mostly DOA CAL's, in a lime green or some variation such as lime green silver and/or black sparkle or lime on top/white on the bottom, etc. These baits can be fished throughout the water column and I've even had them hit while dragging them fast across the surface. Only thing is, they mostly produce trout.

I think bassboy has the right idea from another thread. Pick a Bass lure and make us fish with that.

Of course, I'll probably not be able to get that day off but hey ... I'll get to see you guys/gals here on PF.com cussin' me. haha!!

This format is a One Lure Challenge format. Challenge being the main word. You guys all want it too easy, DOA paddletails? Everyone has those. Bone spooks, come on boys, do we have to hand feed the fish? Lets think outside the box and come up with something different and new that you have not fished with before.

I think it would be a great time for the gold dart or a gold rush paddle tail. We would need a bag of them though; 1 isn't going to cut it.

Definitely against using a spook, that time of the year is a better time for plastics and using it all day is a PIA.

What about this for thinking outside the box: EP Everglades special.

If the purpose of this is to have people branch out and use something new this would be the way to go. ppl with fly rods could use it with a fly rod; and for those who refuse to, there is always a popping cork or splitshot that would let them cast ( I used to do this back in the day when fishing piers). Just let me know beforehand so I know to bring my flyrods :thumbleft:

We could have a Beatles Tribute Day with a yellow submarine lure

Image

Or how about a lure that blows bubles?

Image

of course there is also the classic hula popper

I agree, make it a real challenge for a change. Go with the fly rods. You could always have a separate Gulp division for the wimps that can't handle the long rod.
