Bill and I went out to Steinhatchee early (left the house at 4AM) and paddled out in o"dark thirty. The wind was blowing crazy from the west and made the paddle out of the creek a nightmare.

Once out, it was all we could do to fish and we worked hard for an hour or so fighting the wind. Wading made it easier but the fish were not cooperating. Water was dark brown, almost iced tea colored and lots of floating grasses.

After giving up on the flats, we went into the smaller creeks and I was able to manage a few fat trout on spook jr's. They seemed to be hanging in the holes in the creeks. At times the holes were not much bigger than the trout but they seemed to like them. Quality of the trout was much better than normal. They must have liked the thousands of small pinfish and mullet up there.

I can't waith until Fall. Summer fishing up here blows.
