Cool boat, but all he needs is :
  • a rudder from ebay,
    a mast from Craigslist,
    outriggers, spars from Home Depot,
    maststep, leeboards, thwarts from Lowes,
    blocks, shackles, gundeons from duckworks.com,
    a tiller from Ace,
    a sail from apsltd.com,
and he's ready to set sail.

There's old school, new school, and no school.

Pretty cool, mine was a lot easier to make. It is really cool to watch people using old techniques and tools to make stuff. He does use modern tools though. I saw a video of a guy that moved to Alaska and went into the woods with a back pack containing some metal tool heads like and axe and a chisel. He then made handles for them and then proceeded to build a log cabin which he lived in until he was 80 something. He went in when he was 30 something. Sometimes I wish I could do that.
My posts are my opinion only.

I just want to live on a boat and live off "the land" (ala the below).

I think I would have to have Heywood, Cooknfish and some others from the forum come by frequently though. Otherwise I would go hungry.

Every time I go to Miami I think of this guy. I don't know his story, but maybe he has it all right, and I (we??) have it all wrong.

That was Dick Pronnecke, there are a couple of videos available that chronicle it.
