Question about a jet ski trailer

Post by floridalawdog »

I searched and didnt see anything, and I dont know if this is the right place for my question, but does anyone know if a jet ski trailer will make a good trailer for kayaks?? Or is it too light, so therefore would be bouncy?

They work fine. You'll probably need to extend the tongue a bit.

I used a cheapo Harbor Freight trailer for a couple years. I suspect it was lighter than a jetski trailer. It did bounce a little at crossings, etc. You may be able to remove a leaf from the springs to soften the ride.

They work great. I carry 2 12 foot kayaks on mine. No need to extend the tongue. I left the 2x4 bunks on mine and attached unistrut across them. Add pads and you are all set.

A single jetski trailer makes a great kayak trailer. I took a single trailer and fitted with "J" racks and a "Hitch Haul" basket.

I converted this double trailer for two kayaks and did not have to extend the tongue. If you have a single trailer you will have to find one of the older ones with the extended tongue. They are easy to get parts for and way cheaper than a kayak trailer. I love mine.
