Breaking in the new combo

Post by BryanS »

My buddy PJ and I hit up the Nature Coast to do a little fishing this morning. The tides looked average at best, but the weather and lack of wind this morning made our decision an easy one. I also wanted to test out the new rod I picked up yesterday to pair with my CI4. We hit the water about 7am to fish the last of the outgoing tide. The water was already pretty skinny up in the bays, so we drifted to the outside points. Tossing the Spook we started nailing Trout ranging for 16-21. We lost a few nice ones boat side, but we weren’t keeping them, so all the better.

I didn’t bother taking a pic of every Trout we caught, but most were like this.

I did manage to pull this small Red in between the non stop Trout action. Pretty cool spots.

We kept catching Trout with no signs of Reds or Snook, so we decided to move on. We made our way to the North and set up on the edge of a pretty shallow grass flat with a deep cut about 15-20 yards off. We both started chucking the Spook into the Mullet schools and we both had 3-4 really nice blow ups, but no takers. A few more casts and I had this little guy.

Very next cast and I was able to get my slam. Pretty decent Snook.

About three casts later, one more Red. A little bigger, but couldn’t find the big ones today.

Good day on the water. Now time to do a little work.

Nice report. I noticed the you have rubber clips for your stake-out pole. Where did you get the clips?
Being out on the water in the kayak is the prize. Catching fish is the bonus.

Nice Slam!

I have the same clips for my SOP and got them from Yak-gear.com.

Shipping for everything on the site is 0.99.

They came with the stake out pole (Stick-It Pin). My local tackle shop sells them seperate as well for like $5.
