I had to work today. Well that changed too. So having the day off I
went fishing even though the tides, wind and being Friday the 13th was against me.
I made it out on the local Tampa Bay flat about 8:30 am to a slow incoming tide. I decided
to use a Badonkadonk Hp topwater this morning since I would be fishing in dark water with windy
conditions. I made a few cast and hooked into a decent trout only to lose it at the kayak because
trout was not what I was after today. This was supposed to be a redfish day for me.
I love fishing a new area especially when you really don't know what to expect. It was 8:45am
and while walking the dog I see a big swirl followed by a violent explosion in 2 ft of water. A 26"
redfish comes to the hand and after a photo, I revive and release it for someone else to catch.
The very next cast into the same area it happens again. A swirl but this time the hit sounds like
Pa Toooosh! Big snook! This was a good fish as it ran for 40 yards three times, a few jumps and some
bone rattling head shakes.
My new personal best snook. 35.2 inches

I was off the water by noon and the final tally was 5 snook, 2 reds and 1 trout. All on the Badonkadonk
