"Stuck-Ups" fly

Post by AndrewP »

Here's a technique you can apply to to many different patterns, and it's simple -- just add foam underneath the tail of a fly.

Here is a typical Flats Bunny fly constructed with all rabbit. But underneath the tail, I've glued a small strip of foam directly to the underhide of the rabbit to get the tail to lift. The idea is to hop the fly on the bottom, but when you stop the fly the tail drifts up .....

Another pattern for freshwater guys would be a "worm fly" with bits of foam glued on near the tail ...

Anyway, another idea for you guys to experiment with ... and not my idea; got it from this very good web site: http://www.bayflyfishing.com/flytying.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

That looks pretty cool, I think I'll try that trick.
