Fished Cabbagehead Bayou this morning, Nice trout to start the morning 17". Then a little down time when all of a sudden I look over and a huge ball of Redfish start showing some tail. First cast in with a spook jr and BAMM.. a nice 23" Red as I bring it to the boat I see he sucked the spook in deep so I put the rod in the scotty holder and throw out my new Live Target back into the school. I don't even think the lure hit the water and I was hooked up. After a hard 5 min run just pulling line off the drag the lure was spit back at me like no tomorrow.

After about 10 min. I found the school again. Spook Jr back into the school and it was on. A super nice upper slot on the line and in the boat....... What a nice morning and Cabbagehead Bayou.

I put in at the middle of the Causeway, About a 20min paddle north east and I was at the entrance to Cabbagehead Bayou. I fished the flat just outside in the Bay. Fish were moving early. But it got super skinny FAST... Had to walk a good way out to get in deep water.

I've wondered about that area. Took a few marine biology trips to UTB Park in high school. I think it would be interesting to see what flows in and out of Double Branch with the tides.

I'm going out to DB tomorrow (just realized it's so close to me). I have been going to Honeymoon and Fred Howard but that's a bit of a haul with foam blocks on a Charger. I would love to meet up with anyone, I'll be putting in probably around 8 or so.

Which launch would you recommend? State st or in the park?

Kurt

I normally launch at State St. only because I usually get there before the park opens. But if you're going at 8, I'd go to the park. By the way, excellent tide for DB tomorrow. The low won't be so low that you can't get to all the good spots. :D

Yes a croc. A couple years ago . No mistake it was not a gator.

I was there this morning, well double branch and I saw two reptilian sorts floating along in the current. One was around marker #12 and the other right at #14 by the bay. I don't know if they were crocs or gators b/c I didn't want to get close enough to find out :? . Other than that, I'll be at DB again because it is a very scenic area even though I didn't even get as much as a bite this morning.
