monkey or myth?

Post by finatic »

seriously, is the banana thing really bad luck? Or is it just luck that fish are actually caught?

the banana is bad juju. If someone gives you a banana you should eat it on the dock prior to fishing. Dont let it out on the water. This shows the fishing gods you mean business.

Myth... I only have one superstition, I never walk under any black cats. My favorite bananas are those little sweet jobs you get from the guy on the corner in San Jaun.

It is stupid to believe that a banana could effect your fishing. However, I always take a blueberry muffin for breakfast on the water. With out it the day would not be very productive. Not a myth, just plain fact.

I don't know about bananas or muffins but I do know that since I started wearing Croc's, my red fish catches are up 36%.

It is definately a monkey. That's why I would never be caught dead in a yellow kayak. Just bad mojo.

The color of the yak has nothing to do it....

I have to say that the last two GREAT fishing outings I have had have been with a banana in the boat...the last three times I have actually been out, I left the bananas at home and caught a skunk, another skunk, and then watched mud catch redfish all around me, and I caught nothing but a good lesson in humility!

If superstitions apply I wouldn't take fishing poles or anything else for that matter - I don't think it is a banana that is causing the skunk on me.

That's the way the fishing gods work. They sucker you in a la the killer rabbit in Monty Python. "Ahhh...give us the metaphorical finger..that's it...we don't care.." and then WHAMMMM!
