I had my fins down when a wave picked me up and deposited me on a sandbar.
Here's how the fins looked before ...
And, here is the damage ...
Obviously the fin material is punctured, but I think I can perform a repair by sliding the pin back in to the fin. So, do I remove the ring and slide the pin out, or do I use the thumbscrew?

Just remove the ring and pin, then you'll be able to slide the fin down the mast. After putting the mast back inside the fin you could patch it up with a product called "Tear Aid".

OMG... The exact same thing happened to both me and my wife last week. Totally pissed thinking I was going to end up ordering new fins. When I saw this post I ran right out picked up that Tear-Aid repair kit. Can't thank you enough for posting this information. This tear-Aid stuff is incredible!!! Thanks a million.

I did the repair this weekend ... 10 minutes and I was good as new. I didn't need the tear-aid stuff ...

No need to use Tear Aid. Just slide it through again. I like to spray a little McLube in the slot. It helps the bar go in easier.

Re: Hobie Turbo Fin repair
I just finished my repair of one turbofin. It took about 10 minutes and the $10.00 I spent for the Tear-Aid was worth it.
If it tears or gets worse then I will simply repair it again until it is no longer reparable.
