St. Croix has a good some good sticks in that price range.

Got an email blast today form Sports Authority $25.00 off $100.00 coupon...

Sometimes they have Shimano spinners pair up on the Redbones, or the Redbones little sister the Calico Jack rods.

Red Bones are a phenominal rod for the money. I also found an 8 foot rod at Gandy Bait and tackle that was made by a local for a real good price. Great rod too!

I agree, for less than a hundred bucks, and many times SA has them onsale for $69.99, they are hard to beat. I have several but most have been changed out to my fresh water bass & peacock bass rods. The only knock I have on them is that very thin tip and small tip-top guide is tough when you need a line to leader knot passing through for casting.

Broke every redbone I have ever owned. Don't think it's operator error as the only St.Croix I broke was one I fell on. They do have a great warranty though. Ten bucks gets you a new rod, forever.

Most of my rods are Redbones. ML to MH, spinning & trigger. The 7' spinners and baitcasters have a shorter handle than most, which is why I went with them originally.
I've replaced a few guides but have yet to break a rod. Not sure why some have more problems than others.

Sports Authority has the $69 sale every month or two. Hard to beat at that price.

I've broken one in like 5 or 6 years of hard use, it was a 7' Med action spinner, but was operator error.

I tangled braid around the tip and reached up to try and untangle it, applied a little to much stretching/reaching pressure trying to pull a loop over the tip and it snapped.. Operator stoopidity did not even try the warranty route, so that Rod is now a 6' 9" spinner.
